2-0 Triumph against Hungary Secures Berth
Budapest, Hungary – Germany has secured its place in the round of 16 at the European Championships with a 2-0 victory against Hungary on Saturday. After a slow start, Germany found its footing and dominated the match, with Ilkay Gündogan playing a pivotal role.
Gündogan assisted Kai Havertz for the opening goal in the 66th minute and then scored the second himself in the 84th minute. Hungary, which had played with ten men since the 66th minute following a red card, was unable to contain the German attack.
With the victory, Germany improves to two wins in Group A and is assured of a top-two finish. The team will face Portugal in their final group match on Wednesday, while Hungary will face France.
